One Flow Whole House Anti-Scale Filters (OF)
If you want an easy, reliable reduce water staining without monthly salt costs, then template-assisted crystallization (TAC) may be the right choice for your home. This new technology is rapidly acting on as homeowners don’t want to change the composition of their water but they also want to spend less time removing stains from showers and sinks.
TAC uses a resin to temporarily grab calcium and magnesium from the water and allow them to grow into crystals that are not likely to stain.
Advantages
- Healthy Minerals are retained. Calcium and magnesium contribute to strong bones and teeth, blood clotting, strong muscles (including your heart) One Flow converts magnesium and calcium into small crystals, instead of removing them.
- Good tast. Calcium and Magnesium in low quantities contribute to good tasting water
- Low yearly service costs. No additional chemicals and no need for rinse water reduces annual maintenance costs. TAC media both last up to 15 year depending on your water quality
- Reduces Scale. If your principle objective is to remove scaling, this might be a great option. Arizona State University studied the effect of TAC and found that it reduced scale formation by 90%. Your water heater and dishwasher will thank you for installing a whole house solution that reduces scale.
- Easy Install. All you need is a tank, no electricity needed. Access to drain system not needed.
- Sustainable. Water softeners discharge wastewater to carry the hard minerals away. TAC units do not produce waste water.
Disadvantages
- Water Tests do not show an improvement. Since this technology changes the form calcium and magnesium without removing them, harness tests will likely show no change.
- Does not entirely eliminate scale. 90% reduction of scale formation still leaves roughly 10%. If you need better results, a typical water softener may be for you.
Alternatives
- Ion exchange water softeners swap sodium ions for calcium and magnesium. In high quantities, calcium can irritate your skin. Although more expensive than TAC, these units are the current gold standard for removing hardness.
