Description
UV treatment destroys bacteria, virus and some organic molecules without adding anything to the water. The energy and light frequency of the bulb excited organic molecules and encourages them to transition toward carbon dioxide and water. When the protective protein coating on the virus or the cell wall of a bacteria is damaged, the contents break apart and the organism dies.
This difference is most significant when producing water for drinking or swimming, processing foods and bottled beverages, manufacturing cosmetics or pharmaceuticals, use in hospitals and research institutions, and tertiary treatment of municipal or industrial wastewater.
